Explaining WingSnaps prototype.
Wing snap is an AI recognition app that recognises different butterfly species and collects data for further research purposes. Our primary goal is to make the original app better and enhance the user experience.
Now short explanations about our app design and appearance.
- In the first picture you can see the capabilities of our app for example we promise instant recognition with AI.
- Second picture is presenting the phase after taking the picture. There it is also possible to do personal notes and see details about the pictures.
- In third picture you are able to track the locations of different butterfly species in Germany to widen your personal collection, if you are very motivated this is for you.
- Fourth picture is presenting taking of the picture itself and there you can see how the AI is helping the customer to get better pictures.
- Fifth picture is showing how the profile of the customer would look like .
- Sixth picture is the gallery where you can inspect your personal collection of butterflies and pictures and also study about them.
- In seventh picture you can search with the name of area or butterfly that what butterflies you have caught from that area.
How we are different from our competitors?
- More competitive because of adversities and good marketing.
- More entertaining app because of more rewarding gaming experience.
- Our target group is most people from all known experts to kids that use the app just for fun.
Problems
- Our main problem was that the outlook of the original app wasn’t pleasing enough for the wider demographic of customers. Main thing we noticed was that the app was designed for professional users which of course is great and the main purpose. So the foundation is very good in the app, but we just needed to paint the house.

Solutions for the problem
WingSnap is our prototype and solution to make the app more entertaining and simple for customers. It is using AI photo recognition to make taking pictures more comfortable and precise.
Our design also focused very much to make the apps appearance more entertaining, so we putted more colors and we also made it more entertaining by adding gallery that shows what species and from where you caught them.
It makes the experience more rewarding when you can see all the species you already caught to your camera.
We also putted a feature that better the picture the more points you will get from the app and it also rewards the customers.
