Dada Dunia – Group 2

During our stay in Halifax at NSCC, we worked on a real-world design challenge brought to us by Dada Dunia, a purpose-driven startup connecting African women with Canadian employers. Dada Dunia trains women across Africa and prepares them for the Canadian job market, where they take on small administrative and other remote tasks — paid at Canadian minimum wage. While that may sound modest from a North American perspective, it can cover up to six months of rent in some African countries, making a genuinely life-changing difference. Their mission is to bridge two worlds: giving skilled African women access to meaningful economic opportunity, while helping Canadian businesses find reliable, motivated remote talent.

The challenge they brought us was one of trust and scale: how might we increase Dada Dunia’s reach while strengthening the confidence and transparency that both clients and Dadas need to feel fully committed to the platform?

Our response — Streamlining Trust and Transparency in Client Experience — tackled this from three angles. First, we proposed implementing a Chatbot to address common questions and concerns upfront, reducing friction and uncertainty before a potential client or Dada even reaches out. Second, we designed the Confidence Card, a connecting artifact that bridges Business Owners and Dadas, giving both sides a tangible sense of shared identity and belonging within the Dada Dunia ecosystem. Third, we reworked the application process itself, streamlining it to make onboarding clearer, more welcoming, and more efficient for everyone involved.

Together, these three interventions are designed not just to grow Dada Dunia’s reach, but to make every person in the network — whether hiring or being hired — feel genuinely seen, supported, and trusted.
